Siegel Named a Leading Rainmaker by Daily Journal

O'Melveny partner and Litigation Department Co-Chair Robert Siegel was recently recognized as one of California's top ten rainmakers in an annual supplement to the Daily Journal. In a profile of Siegel featured in the supplement, he reflects on the course of litigation over the past year.

"By taking seriously the advice to become an expert in both the law and his client's industry, Siegel...has become one of the foremost lawyers in the nation representing airlines in employment litigation and negotiations and possesses a star-power roster of clients that include Delta Air Lines, Alaska Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways," the Daily Journal writes. "And as economic woes hit the legal industry in the past year, the reputation Siegel built has allowed him to continue adding clients."

The piece notes that within the past year, Siegel has added AirTran Airways, Delta Airlines, Midwest Airlines, Republic Airways, Spirit Airlines, and the Air Transport Association of America to O'Melveny's client roster. Siegel tells the Daily Journal that demand has grown in the recession as airlines have sought his help in major labor disputes and in restructuring their business plans to emerge in a good position from the downturn.

The Daily Journal also reports that in his role as co-chair of O'Melveny's litigation department, Siegel works with his fellow litigators "to respond quickly to clients' needs in the recession for more efficient, cost-controlling work." Siegel explains that the Firm is dedicated to improving the overall cost benefit for its services, which includes arrangements tailored to each client and situation, such as blended rates, success fees, an hourly rate with discounts in success fees and more lean staffing on certain projects.
