2026 CPG Legal Forum: Public Nuisance and Public Entity UDAP - Past, Present and Potential Future Considerations for the CPG Industry
February 19, 2026
O’Melveny partners Hannah Chanoine and Jonathan Schneller will be guest speakers at the Consumer Brands Association’s 2026 CPG Legal Forum, a gathering for senior legal professionals in the consumer packaged goods industry—from household and personal care to food and beverage products.
Chanoine and Schneller will host the roundtable “Public Nuisance and Public Entity UDAP: Past, Present and Potential Future Considerations for the CPG Industry,” which will explore why public nuisance and public entity unfair competition claims pose a significant and growing threat.
Chanoine will also join the session “Litigation: Ouch! What Will They Think of Next? Novel Liability Theories in CPG Litigation” as a panelist. The session will explore how plaintiffs’ counsel are leveraging theories of injury in mass torts and class actions.
Co-Chair of O’Melveny’s Consumer Class Actions Practice, Chanoine defends and advises consumer packaged goods companies in nationwide false advertising cases. She also counsels CPG clients up and down the supply chain on strategies for mitigating class action litigation risk during product and label development, and advises investors conducting due diligence on the class action litigation risk profiles posed by potential targets.
Schneller is a leading advisor on public-nuisance law and has extensive experience defending manufacturers in lawsuits, class actions, and state Attorney General investigations relating to their products and services. As the head of O’Melveny’s Artificial Intelligence Industry Group, he defends clients in lawsuits alleging harms from the use of AI features.
