ABA: 2024 Antitrust Spring Meeting

Three O’Melveny partners are set to make a significant contribution to this year’s ABA Antitrust Spring Meeting in Washington, DC, which garners strong interest and recognition from over 60 countries worldwide. “Antitrust Week” will welcome more than three thousand participants this spring and provide a valuable opportunity to draw on both domestic and international perspectives on competition, consumer protection, and data privacy law. An impressive 29% of attendees are expected to be international delegates, making it the largest gathering of competition, consumer protection, and data privacy professionals globally.

O’Melveny partner and co-chair of the firm’s Antitrust and Competition practice Ian Simmons will moderate a panel of experts discussing effective litigation strategies in monopolization cases. The panel is presented by the Civil Practice Procedure, Global Private Litigation, and Trial Practice Committees and will focus on how parties build and prosecute effective and persuasive trial themes to create narratives that resonate.

O’Melveny partner Anna Pletcher will be a guest speaker on a panel presented by the Cartel and Criminal Practice Committee, Trial Practice Committee, and International Cartel Task Force, exploring the common features and themes across criminal antitrust trials both recently and historically. The panel will also consider lessons learned, effective strategies and tactics, and their relation to convictions, hung juries, and acquittals.

O’Melveny partner Sergei Zaslavsky will moderate a panel discussion presented by the Economics Committee considering varying views on current market definition as well as exploring new tools to address the complexities of market definition as they continue to evolve.
