DBA 39th Annual Review of Energy Law Symposium
August 16, 2024
O’Melveny partners Jason Schumacher and Monica Hwang will be guest speakers at the Dallas Bar Association’s 39th Annual Review of Energy Law Symposium. This program is designed to provide a review of Texas oil and gas law, including a discussion of current events. Schumacher’s and Hwang’s presentation will cover different aspects of US LNG Project Development and its relevance for the energy, oil, and gas legal community.
Monica Hwang counsels clients on energy-related project development matters, including joint ventures and complex commercial transactions. She has extensive experience working on liquefied natural gas import and export projects, handling the structuring for equity lifting; implementing tolling and sales models; and advising on gas supply and marketing arrangements. Among her vast industry experience is serving an integral role in the development of Freeport LNG—at the time, the largest non-recourse project financing in history—as well a consortium of investors into the Dominican Republic LNG import terminal, for which the joint venture won Latin American Finance Project of the Year.
Jason Schumacher is co-chair of O’Melveny’s Energy Industry Group. He represents clients in the energy and oil and gas sectors on mergers, stock and asset acquisitions, and divestitures. Jason advises on project development and joint development matters, day-to-day operational affairs, litigation and dispute resolution, and financing arrangements, including commercial midstream agreements and specialty energy financing, involving volumetric production payments, prepayments, net profits interests, overriding royalty interest, securitizations and Drillco structures. He has closed over US$10 billion of transactions and projects.
