O’Melveny’s 2024 CLE Marathon: Did You Hear That? I Could Kill Them! Improving Belonging Through Ability- and Wellbeing-Inclusive Language

January 4, 2024

We have the power to heal, help, and include, or to harm and exclude through our language use. During this program, we will cover the importance of supporting individuals with disabilities, how all of us benefit from wellbeing support, and the relationship to the elimination of bias in the legal profession. We will provide examples of language that isn’t inclusive, general communication advice to increase disability and wellbeing inclusivity, and reference tables for language substitutions. Before the program: It will enhance your learning during this program if you have a better understanding of your level of implicit bias related to disability by taking the Disability Implicit Association Test (IAT). You can access it by clicking here, confirming that you wish to proceed and selecting the Disability IAT.
