The Texas Journal of Oil, Gas, and Energy Law 2026 Symposium
February 6, 2026
O’Melveny partner Jason Schumacher will be a guest speaker at the Texas Journal of Oil, Gas, and Energy Law 2026 Symposium. His presentation will “explore the mechanics and benefits of oil and gas securitization transactions, in which future production revenues are pooled and sold as securities to investors. It will discuss how these structures can provide upfront capital, diversify funding sources, and mitigate commodity price and operational risks for producers. The session will also address current market trends, deal structures, investor considerations, and the legal, regulatory, and accounting factors that influence successful execution.”
Jason Schumacher is co-chair of the firm’s Energy Industry Group. He represents clients in the energy and oil and gas sectors on mergers, stock and asset acquisitions, and divestitures. Schumacher advises on project development and joint development matters, day-to-day operational affairs, litigation and dispute resolution, and financing arrangements, including commercial midstream agreements and specialty energy financing, involving volumetric production payments, prepayments, net profits interests, overriding royalty interest, securitizations and Drillco structures. He has closed over US$10 billion of transactions and projects.
