Four O’Melveny Lawyers Named “Power Lawyers” by The Hollywood Reporter
March 28, 2019
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CENTURY CITY—March 28, 2019—Four O’Melveny lawyers have been named to The Hollywood Reporter’s prestigious “Power Lawyers 2019” special report.
The annual report profiles the top 100 attorneys in the entertainment industry—“the pit bulls, fixers, wheelers and dealers”—as identified by the writers and editors at The Hollywood Reporter. O’Melveny partners Matthew Erramouspe, Molly Lens, Sean Monroe, and Daniel Petrocelli were included in this year’s publication.
Erramouspe was recognized for his work representing BRON Studios in deals that put him “at the center of a pair of politically charged films: Lionsgate’s Roger Ailes movie that will star John Lithgow and Sony Pictures’ The Front Runner about Gary Hart’s scandal-plagued run for president in 1988.” The Hollywood Reporter also noted Erramouspe’s work for Paramount in the studio’s relaunch of the Terminator franchise, as well as his work for Alibaba in its investment in mobile entertainment platform Quibi.
In its profile of Lens, The Hollywood Reporter said, “If Aesop were still alive, the Greek storyteller would probably write a fable about Lens.” Lens was recognized for her work for Fox on several fronts, including: defending the studio in high-profile harassment cases, attempting to overturn a $179 million arbitration award, defending against copyright claims connected to the hit show Empire, and “preparing for a May trial over Netflix’s ‘poaching’ of Fox executives.”
Monroe was recognized for helping “Envy Gaming secure $20 million in Series B equity in 2018,” as well as for his representation of BRON studios “and its newly-launched investment branch BRON Ventures, which inked a partnership with Brooklyn-based production company Animal Kingdom.” The Hollywood Reporter also noted Monroe’s work on the acquisition of iconic LA retailer Fred Segal, which will bring the “brand to another level.”
In its profile of Petrocelli, The Hollywood Reporter noted that, “There’s no rest for Petrocelli after beating the U.S. government’s lawsuit aimed at blocking the AT&T/Time Warner merger on antitrust grounds.” Petrocelli was lauded for “taking on the Michael Jackson estate on two fronts (for Disney over an ABC special and for HBO over Leaving Neverland).” The Hollywood Reporter also recognized Petrocelli’s work for Fox in its executive poaching suit against Netflix, his defense of pop star Kesha in a defamation case, and his work in a high-profile battle over songwriter royalties.
