O’Melveny Again Ranks #1 in The American Lawyer’s Midlevel Associates Survey

NEW YORK—September 4, 2024— O’Melveny again ranked #1 for associate satisfaction in The American Lawyer’s 2024 Midlevel Associates Survey of more than 70 law firms nationwide—the second year in a row that the firm has placed first. It also marks the firm’s 10th consecutive appearance in the top four.
In regional office rankings, associates selected O’Melveny #1 in Century City, Dallas, Newport Beach, San Francisco, and Washington, DC. The firm’s Dallas office was ranked #2, the Los Angeles office was ranked #3, and the New York office #4.
O’Melveny ranked #2 for technology, reflecting the firm’s steadfast commitment to providing a top-tier working environment. Associates also rated the firm highly for how interesting and important their work is, how well partners and associates work together, and the value the firm places on pro bono work.
Each year The American Lawyer surveys third-, fourth-, and fifth-year associates on aspects of job satisfaction, including work opportunities, compensation and benefits, training and guidance, and interaction with partners and other associates. This year O’Melveny associates had an 89% response rate, with 118 lawyers participating.

The American Lawyer Midlevel Associates Survey adds to the recent wave of accolades that the firm has garnered for its inclusive and supportive culture. For the 13th year in a row, the firm was named to The American Lawyer’s “A-List,” a measure of holistic excellence in the legal industry. In addition, for the third time since 2020, O’Melveny achieved an unprecedented “trifecta” in Vault’s annual survey of law firm associates, which ranks firms based on their culture, wellness, racial and ethnic diversity, and overall diversity. O’Melveny earned #1 rankings across all three of Vault’s major categories: “Best Law Firm to Work For,” “Best Overall Diversity,” and “Best Summer Associate Program.”
