O’Melveny Earns Top Score in Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index for 11th Consecutive Year
December 1, 2023
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW YORK—December 1, 2023—O’Melveny has been named a recipient of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s “Equality 100 Award: Leader in LGBTQ+ Workplace Inclusion.” This is the eleventh consecutive year that O’Melveny has earned the highest possible CEI score.
The award recognizes the major U.S. businesses that received a score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2023-2024 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), which is the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality. This year, with enhanced criteria across four central pillars--non-discrimination policies across business entities; equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families; supporting an inclusive culture; and corporate social responsibility—fewer organizations met the threshold: the firm maintained its score alongside 545 organizations.
“Members of the LGBTQ+ community have contended with an unrelenting legislative landscape—this year alone, more than 500 anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been introduced across the U.S.,” said O’Melveny LGBTQ+ partner Billy Abbott, “Now, more than ever, LGBTQ+ inclusion cannot just be the right thing to do—it must be a key priority. At O’Melveny, we know it is our responsibility to create and advance inclusive workplace policies for our LGBTQ+ colleagues and their families. We are honored to be recognized with the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Equality 100 Award and are excited to continue to work to make the promise of diversity, equity, and inclusion real in every aspect of our firm.”
The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is the educational arm of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) people. Through its programs, the HRC Foundation seeks to make transformational change in the everyday lives of LGBTQ+ people, shedding light on inequity and deepening the public’s understanding of LGBTQ+ issues, with a clear focus on advancing transgender and racial justice.
