O’Melveny Managing Counsel for Pro Bono David Lash Named a 2024 “Top 100 Lawyer” by the Los Angeles Business Journal
May 2, 2024
David Lash, O’Melveny’s Managing Counsel for Pro Bono and Public Interest Services, was named to the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2024 “Top 100 Lawyers” list, which recognizes leading lawyers in the region for their “ongoing efforts as outstanding legal stewards.”
The publication described Lash as “a leading advocate, spokesperson, expert and public face for supporting access to justice for those who are the most vulnerable,” adding that he “has devoted his career to using the law and his legal training to ensure that our democracy’s most life-affirming benefits are guaranteed to those who need them the most, those who are low-income, voiceless and come from marginalized communities.”
Lash oversees O’Melveny’s national and international pro bono program, which extends the firm’s commitment to exceptional client service to underrepresented members of society. The award-winning program regularly takes on pressing issues, including immigration, housing, women’s rights, foster care, education, veterans affairs, racial justice, criminal justice reform, and voting rights.
In addition to his role within O’Melveny, Lash has taken on myriad pro bono leadership roles in the community at large. As the former chair of the State Bar’s Legal Services Trust Fund Commission, he oversaw the allocation of millions of dollars of funding for legal services for the poor. Lash also was an original member and served as president of the Association of Pro Bono Counsel, which coordinates pro bono volunteer legal programs across the country.
