O’Melveny Named One of 2023’s Transportation Groups of the Year by Law360

NEW YORK—March 11, 2024—O’Melveny’s Transportation Practice has been named a 2023 “Practice Group of the Year” by Law360 in its annual awards competition.
The winning practice groups were selected from nearly 800 submissions by law firms across the country. The special report honors the “attorney teams behind litigation wins and major deals that resonated throughout the legal industry this past year.”
Law360 highlighted O’Melveny’s representation of JFK Millennium Partners LLC, a consortium consisting of Vantage Airport Group, JetBlue, American Triple I, and RXR Realty, in an agreement to build, finance, and operate a new US$4.2 billion passenger terminal at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.
"It's an example of O'Melveny at its best," said Eric Richards, partner and co-chair of the firm's Corporate Department. "We don't view any of these as a single transaction, but really helping clients in this space achieve their entire business plan, their entire project. The number of legal disciplines that contributed to it is quite broad."
The publication also noted O’Melveny’s representation of the Puerto Rico Public-Private Partnership Authority, in collaboration with the Puerto Rico Highways and Transportation Authority, on a long-term concession agreement for financing, operation, maintenance, and improvement of four toll roads.
Additionally, Law360 referenced O’Melveny’s successful representation of Airlines for America in a declaratory judgment action against the State of Massachusetts, challenging the application of the State’s paid sick leave law to airline employees.
"We are seeing a proliferation of these laws on the state and local level," said Mark Robertson, partner and co-chair of the firm’s Aviation Group. "Of course, with 50 states and thousands of cities, trying to get airlines to comply would have a significant impact on the rate, route and services."
