O’Melveny’s David Lash Receives “Pro Bono Service Award” for Efforts to Combat Evictions, Homelessness

LOS ANGELES—October 18, 2023—David Lash, O’Melveny’s Managing Counsel for Pro Bono and Public Interest Services, was honored on October 16 with Legal Services Corporation’s “Pro Bono Service Award” in recognition of his two-decade commitment to expanding access to legal services for low-income California residents in Los Angeles and Orange counties.
Lash was lauded for his numerous pro bono achievements, including fostering collaborations between O’Melveny lawyers and the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA), which nominated him for the award. Lash was also recognized for his work to expand outreach and raise awareness and support for eviction defense, emphasizing its connection to racial justice.
Lash recently collaborated with the office of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Stay Housed LA to encourage the city’s major law firms to reduce homelessness and evictions by handling more housing-related pro bono matters.
