Law360: American Airlines Escapes Flight Attendants’ OT Suit

A Pennsylvania federal judge has found that the Railway Labor Act (which also covers airlines) preempted an American Airlines flight attendant’s claims that American violated the Pennsylvania Minimum Wage Act by failing to pay for time flight attendants spent shuttling between airports and layover hotels, or time spent boarding and deplaning passengers before and after flights. The judge granted a motion from American Airlines and dismissed John’s amended complaint with prejudice. The O’Melveny team representing American Airlines includes partners Mark W.
