Law360: Former Acting OCC Head Rejoins O’Melveny As Fintech Pro

Brian Brooks has rejoined O’Melveny as a partner in the firm’s Financial Services Practice Group and Fintech Industry Group. Brooks has previously served as acting head of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency from May 2020 to January 2021, chief legal officer of Coinbase, and CEO of Bitfury. “What I hope to do is to bring a highly interdisciplinary approach that helps banks, for example, grapple with competition and disruption and partner more effectively with some of these startups so that the banks are successful and don't get disrupted unnecessarily,” Brooks said. O’Melveny chair Bradley J. Butwin said that Brooks “has proudly furthered O’Melveny’s storied tradition of public service, and he is recognized as a visionary leader in the financial services and fintech arenas.”
