Plaintiffs in a landmark case over education funding secured a major victory after Commonwealth Court President Judge Renée Cohn Jubelirer declared that Pennsylvania’s public school funding system was unconstitutional. The plaintiffs, represented by a team of attorneys from O’Melveny & Myers LLP, the Public Interest Law Center and the Education Law Center, originally sued the state in 2014 over claims that students in lower-income districts were deprived of necessary educational resources. “This is a case that is going to help millions of children in Pennsylvania,” said O’Melveny partner Katrina Robson, who joined the case pro bono and led the trial team. “It was satisfying seeing a law firm like O’Melveny, that has the resources and experience, [be] willing to make the investment to help kids. If every law firm went out and did that, it could change the world.”
