O’Melveny’s Gabriel L. Olivera Named a 2023 National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges’ Next Generation Program Participant

O’Melveny counsel Gabriel L. Olivera has been accepted as a participant by National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges’ Next Generation Program in Austin, Texas. The program was established in 2012 and recognizes the most prominent up and coming bankruptcy practitioners. Up to fifty experienced professionals are welcomed annually, nominated by law firms, government agencies, and bankruptcy judges. The highly sought-after program provides the opportunity to take part in exclusive networking events, a judicial roundtable featuring bankruptcy judges from across the nation, and the annual meeting.

All nominees must meet stringent qualification criteria to warrant this recognition, including having demonstrated “legal excellence in the practice of bankruptcy law,” “a serious commitment to principles of civility, ethics and professionalism,” and “a commitment to the continued educational development of bankruptcy professionals and to professional activities that will benefit the public, members of the bar and the court system.”

Based in O’Melveny’s New York office, Olivera has extensive experience in financial reorganization and corporate bankruptcy-related litigation. A native of Puerto Rico, he combines his restructuring experience with his Spanish-speaking ability to help bridge language and cultural barriers with Latin American clients involved in complex financial restructurings. Prior to entering private practice, Olivera was a law clerk for the Hon. Brian K. Tester, formerly of the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
