O’Melveny Represents Underwriters in United Airlines’ Special Facilities Bond Financings Totaling US$535 Million at George Bush Intercontinental Airport
June 2, 2026
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HOUSTON—June 2, 2026— O’Melveny represented BofA Securities, Inc. and other underwriters in connection with a series of bond financings, which included the issuance and sale of US$277,425,000 of special facilities revenue refunding bonds and US$257,065,000 of special facilities revenue bonds issued for United Airlines’ benefit by the City of Houston.
The revenue refunding bond proceeds are being used to refinance prior special facilities revenue bonds that funded the improvement, construction, and installation of certain passenger terminal facilities at George Bush Intercontinental Airport/Houston (IAH). The revenue bond proceeds are being used to finance the development, design, construction, acquisition, and equipping of catering operations and ground services equipment facilities at IAH. Once operational, United expects the new catering facility to be the largest kitchen facility in its network, supporting production of approximately 14,000 meals per day. United plans to use the new ground services equipment facility as a replacement for its existing ground support equipment maintenance facility, providing increased capacity to support United’s expected growth and to support repairs currently done outdoors, which causes work stoppages due to inclement weather and damage to equipment.
O’Melveny has represented the underwriters in multiple financing transactions throughout the years to expand and modernize airline facilities at airports nationwide for the benefit of United Airlines.
The O’Melveny team was led by partner Liz Dubeck, partner and Corporate Department co-chair Eric Richards, counsel Kathryn E. Turner, and associate Katelyn David. Of Counsel Evan Jones advised on structuring matters, and partner Jim Harrigan advised on state and local securities (or “blue sky”) matters.
