O’Melveny & Chubb Team with TLDEF on Transgender Legal Name Changes

O’Melveny collaborated with Chubb’s Legal Department and the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund to help 11 transgender individuals obtain legal name changes.

Obtaining a legal name change is not just emotionally significant but also essential for transgender clients so they can be treated with respect from employers, government agencies, hospitals, and others.

Transgender clients can also be subject to harassment, disrespect, and even physical harm if their government-issued identification does not match their gender identity. Knowing that their legal work was helping to protect the safety of transgender clients made this work especially meaningful to the lawyers.
