Angela T. Wilks

Assistant General Counsel

Angela Thaler Wilks is Assistant General Counsel to O’Melveny. In that capacity, Angie works closely with O’Melveny’s General Counsel to advise the firm’s lawyers and management at all levels, providing guidance on a vast range of matters, including business intake, conflicts, and engagement documentation and management; fee disputes; labor and employment counseling; proposed and ongoing pro bono representations; interpretation and enforcement of the firm’s partnership agreement; data management and security; subpoenas and discovery served on the firm; lateral partner intake and integration; partner retirement; malpractice, employment, and general liability insurance; and the defense of malpractice claims in litigation and arbitrations.

Before becoming the firm’s Assistant GC, Angie served as O’Melveny’s Director of Attorney Professional Development for a decade. She oversaw the evolution of multiple Talent Development programs during her tenure, including the firm’s approaches to performance evaluation, compensation, training, mentoring, integration, retention, and workplace flexibility.

Angie further draws on her experiences practicing Antitrust & Competition law at O’Melveny. Her practice focused on complex antitrust litigation, cartel investigations, and government merger and non-merger investigations. As an associate, Angie was seconded to a Fortune 500 client in the financial services industry. Before attending law school, she was an Honors Paralegal at the Federal Trade Commission.

Angie received her J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School in 2004 and was a member of the Virginia Journal of International Law. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa with highest distinction from the University of Virginia in 1999 with a B.A. in Foreign Affairs and Russian Studies.
