Ben Aronson is a litigation partner in O’Melveny’s New York office, and a member of the firm’s Entertainment, Sports, and Media Industry Group. Ben represents clients in high-stakes commercial disputes, arbitrations, and investigations, with a focus on professional sports-related matters. He also advises on crisis and risk management.

For nearly a decade, Ben worked as in-house counsel at the National Basketball Association, most recently serving as Vice President & Assistant General Counsel of Litigation & Player Matters. At the NBA, he oversaw all global commercial litigation for the league and its affiliated entities, successfully managing the NBA’s defense in a wide range of areas, including privacy, antitrust, consumer class actions, mass arbitration, intellectual property, cryptocurrency, torts, and sports betting. Ben also advised team general counsel on league-wide litigation matters and managed the NBA’s response to high-profile arbitrations and investigations. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ben led liability risk management for the NBA’s innovative “bubble” playoffs in Florida.

Prior to joining the NBA, Ben worked in the litigation department of a leading New York law firm, where he represented clients in commercial litigation matters, arbitrations, and investigations in a variety of industries, including oil and gas, life sciences, real estate, sports, and financial services.

Ben received his J.D. from Yale Law School and A.B. from Brown University.
