Katie Loftus is a litigation associate in O’Melveny’s Newport Beach office. She rejoined the firm after clerking for the Honorable Karin J. Immergut of the United States District Court for the District of Oregon.
Katie’s labor and employment practice includes wage and hour class actions, collective bargaining agreements, restrictive covenants and unfair competition, sexual harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims. In addition to California law, Katie’s work spans the Railway Labor Act (RLA), Section 1981, and Title VII. Katie represents companies in various industries, including transportation, insurance, technology, retail, and entertainment, among others.
She also maintains an active pro bono practice, which focuses on representing clients in domestic violence disputes.
- Advising major airline on renegotiation of collective bargaining agreement with work group, including implications under Railway Labor Act (RLA)
- Advising clients on social media policies and representing clients in high-profile, wrongful termination matters based on social media misconduct
- Representing Fortune 500 companies in wage and hour class actions, in addition to discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation matters
- Drafting employee handbooks and employment agreements
- Representing pro bono client in domestic violence dispute, first-chairing evidentiary hearing on restraining order, and securing one-year restraining order
