Nimat Lawal is a corporate counsel in O’Melveny’s New York office. Nimat represents clients in a broad range of complex corporate transactions, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, including asset and equity acquisitions and divestitures, joint ventures, minority investments, and other similar transactions. She also counsels companies on their corporate governance and securities obligations. Nimat has completed transactions for clients in various industries, including healthcare, construction, manufacturing, technology, finance, and hospitality.
In addition to representing commercial clients, Nimat is actively engaged in providing pro bono corporate advice to small businesses and entrepreneurs.
Prior to joining O’Melveny, Nimat practiced corporate law in the New York office of an international law firm.
While attending Harvard Law School, Nimat was President of the Harvard Defenders, a student-led practice organization that provides pro bono representation to low-income defendants in criminal probable cause hearings.
