Reema Shah is an accomplished litigator and strategic advisor with deep expertise in advanced technologies and exceptional experience working at the highest levels of government, including at the White House and the Supreme Court.

Prior to joining O’Melveny, Reema served as Deputy General Counsel for the US Department of Commerce, where she supervised high-stakes investigations and litigation related to technology, trade, and economic and national security, while also providing strategic guidance on policymaking. She helped lead the development and implementation of US government priorities on artificial intelligence safety and security. Reema also led the federal negotiation of safety testing agreements with companies developing advanced AI models, and she advised on negotiations for the disbursement of US$39 billion in semiconductor manufacturing incentives under the CHIPS Act. Additionally, Reema provided counseling on sensitive trade and export controls issues and oversaw the first set of investigations enforcing the government’s authority to secure US information and communications technology supply chains.

Reema’s long history of public service also includes experience as a senior leader at the White House. As Special Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor to the Chief of Staff, Reema drove execution of the President’s priorities across the federal government, including running key policy processes and leading the response to several crises. She also managed high-profile litigation and advised the President and other senior leaders on complex legal risks as a member of the White House Counsel’s Office.
