Shinji Kusuda has a unique, broad practice area that covers M&A and business trial and litigation.
His practice primarily focuses on cross-border M&A, joint venture, private equity, venture capital investments and strategic alliances. He has also handled entertainment, licensing, finance/capital market transactions as well as general corporate matters representing Japanese companies and multinational corporates investing in Japan. Shinji litigates complex cases and has also been involved in structuring litigation strategy for mass tort cases and other complex cases including Supreme Court cases.
Before joining O’Melveny, he worked in the investment banking division of a major US investment bank, and handled numerous cross-border and domestic M&A, entertainment, licensing and finance/capital market transactions.
Also, he is an author of a published book on legal issues relating to entertainment, and is a lecturer on a subject about Corporate law and legal issues relating to M&A, joint venture, and strategic alliances at the University of Keio. In addition, he works on pro bono matters including support for international scholarship programs as a director of an international scholarship foundation.
